چکیده

Abstract Hibernoma is a rare benign neoplasia derived from remnants of brown adipose tissue. Here, we describe an unusual case mediastinal hibernoma which radiologically mimicked thymic malignancy. The patients had presented with chest pain, associated palpitations and dizziness suggestive cardiac pathology. Investigation coronary anatomy by CT scan, incompletely revealed the presence lesion situated in region thymus gland, 48 mm x 94 mm. mass was smooth walled evidence invasion local structures. Whole-body positron-emission tomography (PET) demonstrated very high uptake, SUV 55.2. excised total thymectomy through sternotomy. Histopathological analysis it to be fibro-fatty nature. Light microscopy large multi-vacuolated cells, appearances typical fat, hibernoma. This one only 7 reported cases. Its findings highlight importance careful interpretation PET studies We propose should included as differential diagnosis growing masses.

Intense 18F-FDG uptake in an organizing right atrial thrombus mimicking malignancy

We present a case of an intensely hypermetabolic intracavitary cardiac mass, standardized uptake values max 44.4, that was pathologically proved to be organizing and organized thrombus, negative for tumor. Our patient had previous right atrial mass resection 2 years prior that was pathologically described as either thrombus or infarcted atrial myxoma. She had since been on lifelong controlled a...

Intense 18F-FDG activity in aortoiliac bypass graft mimicking infection

RATIONALE F-fluorodeoxyglucose (F-FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) has the potential to become an important imaging tool for the diagnosis of suspected aortoiliac bypass graft infection (AGI). PATIENT CONCERNS A 76-year-old man presented with incidental findings of intense F-FDG activity in previous operation site of aortobiiliac bypass graft in the initial stagi...

Mediastinal Hibernoma: A Rare Case with Radiologic-Pathologic Correlation

Hibernomas, especially located in the mediastinum, are extremely rare benign tumors, which are important to consider in the differential diagnosis of a heterogeneously enhancing mass with areas of fat attenuation on imaging of an often incidentally discovered mass. Other common possibilities in the differential include malignant tumors, such as liposarcoma, hence histopathology is usually requi...

Mediastinal hibernoma: a case report.

Hibernomas are rare benign tumours that arise most often in adults from the remnants of fetal brown adipose tissue. They usually affect muscle and subcutaneous tissue and are asymptomatic and slow growing. The distribution of this tumour follows the sites of persistence of brown fat. Out of more then 100 cases described in the word literature only three hybernomas were mediastinal. A recent cli...
